If you haven’t already booked for our special 50th Anniversary Conference – it’s not too late as booking remains open until Friday 9th March 2018. Although we have very few full weekend places left, we still have plenty of spaces for day delegates. See here for the most up-to-date programme and booking details.
This year, we are introducing some exciting new features to the programme:
Publishers’ presentations: We have invited our exhibiting publishers to present some of their latest and upcoming titles to whet your appetite in the session immediately before the Publishers’ Exhibition is officially opened on Friday at 5.30pm. Each publisher will only be allowed two minutes to talk, which should make this an entertaining but useful session. The exhibition is always a very popular part of the weekend, where delegates can have a first glimpse of forthcoming publications, pick up samples and talk to publishers about their particular needs and interests. This opportunity is invaluable for Children’s Book Group members, teachers and librarians to network, collect ideas and explore the possibilities and practicalities of author visits. Please be advised that the Publishers’ Exhibition will close on Saturday afternoon, but that delegates who are only attending on Sunday will receive a special bag of freebies.
Breakfast meetings: We will be offering optional workshop sessions around breakfast time on Saturday and Sunday. These will be designed to cover some of the more practical interests and concerns of delegates, and particularly those who are members of our Children’s Book Groups or who are interested in setting one up. The main programme of talks, panel sessions and workshops will start at 9.00am. Throughout each day there will be opportunities to meet and talk to other delegates and indulge in coffee/tea and cake to keep your energy levels up!
Young hosts: We are delighted that during the weekend we will be joined by two young book reviewers who will be introducing some of our speakers. Mango Bubbles Boy has his own website https://mangobubblesbooks.com/ and Banana Girl is one of his regular reviewers.
Watch out for our next conference post when we will be introducing and focusing on some of the speakers.
