NSSM Children’s Book Award Blog

Illustrations are part and parcel of storytelling for children of all ages, and publishing in the UK showcases the fantastic range of book artists currently at work. Take a look at our past winners poster for the Children’s Book Award (CBA) and you will see just how many illustrators have been loved and honoured by children and young people over the last thirty-five years

As the theme for this year’s National Share a Story Month is ‘Picture a Story’, we would like to remind you of the illustrated books on the short list for CBA 2017 with a round up of the blogs we’ve posted over the last few weeks.

For younger children:

Chicken Nugget by Michelle Robinson and illustrated by Tom McLaughlin

Grandad’s Island by Benji Davies

Oi Dog! by Kes and Claire Gray and illustrated by Jim Field

Gracie Grabbit and the Tiger by Helen Stephens

This year there is only one illustrated book in the short-listed books for younger readers:

An Eagle in the Snow by Michael Morpurgo and illustrated by Michael Foreman
