Conference: Anna Conomos and storytelling

The farewell speaker at our Conference can always be relied on to send us on our way with renewed energy and commitment to the Federation’s mission of bringing books and stories to children, particularly the more vulnerable and under-privileged.

And the 2016 Conference promises to be no exception.  Our final speaker is award-winning Performance Storyteller, Anna Conomos, , who will be taking us all on a whirlwind adventure full of energy and dynamism to launch the Federation’s new Jean Russell Storytelling Project.

Storytelling reaches out to the vulnerable, helping to develop their self-reliance, language skills and imagination.

Thanks to the generosity Thanks to the generosity of the Ragdoll Foundation (, the Federation will be working with Anna, former Young Storyteller of the Year, and book groups across the country to bring storytelling to a wide range of audiences over a 12-month period. The project will be bringing the power of the story to young people who might otherwise never have the opportunity to benefit from the sharing of stories.

Our book groups will be working in partnership with their communities to bring Anna’s boundless energy and vitality to children and young people in children’s hospital wards, young carers, to schools in deprived areas with their parents and carers and at Community Art Festivals. The project will be reaching thousands of children and young people, helping them to grow in confidence, to understand their cultural heritage and to enjoy the gift of storytelling.

To hear more about the inspirational Jean Russell Project and to be energised by the dynamic and engaging Anna, book your place at Conference now.
