Northamptonshire Children’s Book Group

The Northamptonshire Children’s Book Group set up in the summer of 2018 by a group of enthusiastic librarians, teachers, parents and a children’s book illustrator, with the overall aim of bringing youngsters and books together.  We are passionate about enthusing the love of books from picture books to Young Adult titles and thereby nurturing reading through our activities and events.

We are planning exciting events for 2019 including a Bookswap where youngsters can swap their old books for new.  We will arrange for authors and illustrators to visit schools and libraries, organise reading groups for all ages, hold family book themed events with storytelling and craft activities, all with the aim of bringing children and books together!

NCBG will also take part in other FCBG national initiatives such as National Share a Story Month in May and National Non Fiction November when we will encourage our members to get involved and join in the activities.

There will also be the opportunity for members to vote in the FCBG Children’s Book Award which is the only book award where the books are tested and voted for entirely by the youngsters.

NCBG membership comes with a range of benefits; three copies a year of the Carousel Guide Magazine, which includes children’s book reviews, articles about authors and illustrators and information about children’s book events.  You will also receive the FCBG newsletter and copies of the latest FCBG booklists as well as the FCBG Pick of the Year leaflet, discounts on local NCBG events and tickets for the yearly Federation Conference, plus member schools get priority as a venue for author/illustrator events.

We will make sure you have early notification of our events which we will let you know about in our monthly newsletter.

Membership costs £15 a year for an individual and £25 a year for schools, libraries or groups.

We do hope you will join our group and we look forward to welcoming you!
