In this latest post about Conference, Chris Routh writes:
We are always grateful to the publishers who contribute to the annual FCBG conference. From the information and samples supplied for the delegates bags to sponsoring speakers for the jam-packed programme, the conference just wouldn’t be the same without the publishers’ support. While publishers are promoting their publications, delegates are gathering information to help them to make informed decisions about what to buy. There is a shared enthusiasm for getting books and children together. Competitions, cocktails and cakes also help to make for a very enjoyable weekend – creating a real sense of celebration.
One publisher in particular has a lot to celebrate this year – Andersen Press is celebrating its 40th birthday! To mark the anniversary, the new Klaus Flugge Prize for a debut picture book illustrator has been launched, named after the publisher’s founder who is well known for discovering new talent. This is one of a number of exciting initiatives including the first Elmer Day (May 28th
) and the re-release of some classic titles. You can read more about what’s happening here: http://www.thebookseller.com/news/andersen-press-launches-illustrator-award-320804
We are really looking forward to the Andersen Quiz on the Friday
night of the conference and suggest that anyone planning to attend the weekend should start brushing up on what they know about the publisher’s list right now! Why not start here: http://www.andersenpress.co.uk
