CBA Top Ten Announcement
We are thrilled to share with you the Top Ten books for 2023 as voted on solely by children across the UK. The FCBG Children’s Book Award is the only National award where children vote at every stage. From the longlists to the Top Ten, no adults are allowed to cast a vote. Children’s voices are heard loud and clear in the votes they cast each year.
The generosity of publishers is overwhelming as they send their titles to each testing group in the UK and these books are shared and read widely by children of all ages. Votes from across the UK are tallied in each category.
Our three categories are Books for Younger Children, Books for Younger Readers and Books for Older Readers. The Top Ten titles are now sent to the testing groups for more votes to be cast so we get one winner in each category as well as an overall winner. Winners are announced at our CBA ceremony held on the 10th of June in Central London.
Sarah Stuffins, Children’s Book Award Coordinator says ‘The Children’s Book Award is back and the children have had a superb year’s worth of wonderful stories to choose from. It’s children who curate the children’s book industry – they choose the bestsellers and they’re a very particular audience who know exactly what they like. We’re thrilled to be showcasing their choices in this exciting shortlist that demonstrates both the high standards children demand in their books, as well as the superb talent and creativity in children’s books today.’
