FCBG Conference 2026

Books That Hook: Turning every child into a reader with the right book.

Leighton Park School, Reading, 10th to 12th April.

For the National Year of Reading we have planned the programme to help our delegates find the books that will inspire children to become readers. We will have panels on crime and mystery novels, accessible books, reaching reluctant readers, information books, our own Children’s Book Award, graphic novels for younger readers, and verse novels for teen readers. A.F. Harrold, Sophie Anderson, Chris Mould and others will also be appearing, and we will be celebrating a number of anniversaries with cake and fizz.

The conference bookshop will be supplied by the Norfolk Children’s Book Centre and there will be the ever popular publishers’ exhibition where delegates can find out about all the exciting books publishing this year and pick up proofs and promotional materials.

Natasha of Ipswich CBG attended for the first time last year and had this to say “What an absolute treat to spend two days in the company of so many like-minded people with a passion for children’s and young people’s literature, in all its rich and varied guises. I lost count of the number of interesting conversations I had with so many people. I left the Conference with an abundance of new ideas and, as I now understand, an entirely predictable ever growing “to be read” pile of books.”

Bookings for the conference are open, and the early bird discount is available until 16th January so hurry and book now. FCBG members receive a discount on the delegate fees. Contact our Membership Secretary for information about how to join to receive your discount.

All the information and the link to the booking form is available on the conference page of the website.

Please contact the conference manager if you have any questions.
