National Non-Fiction November Competition Winners
Welcome to the blog today which features an announcement on the winners of the National Non-Fiction November Competition. Our NNFN co-ordinator, Jasmine Brown, has written a piece sharing the news!

I am very pleased to showcase some of the entries from the NNFN competition. Thank you to everyone who sent in their entries! The winners have been sent certificates and book prizes from Heath Books, Magic Cat, Pushkin Press, Neon Squid, and Cicada Books. There will be a full display of the entries sent in at our national conference – so do keep an eye out for it if you are coming along this year!
We received entries about vikings, Kings and Queens, local landmarks (like the fish and chip shop with history!), dinosaurs and so many more topics. It was fantastic to see all of the entries and the passion behind them. It was tricky to choose the winners as all of the entries were brilliant. As an avid learner myself, it was fantastic to see that children worked hard and researched their topics thoroughly. Many of the entries were art pieces or posters about the person/place – I learnt many things I didn’t know before!
Winners
5-7 – Theo with the Battle of Little Big Horn
8-10 Sonny with their Viking Longboat (and the Viking who sails it!)
11-16 Isla with a piece on The Screaming Skull of Wardley Hall

Non-fiction is not just for November! For the National Year of Reading, we will be making new booklists to support reading (and learning!) for pleasure. Do keep an eye on our resources pages on the website!
One of the winners, Sonny wrote to us about what the competition meant to him!

For National Non-Fiction November 2026, it will be linked in with the National Year of Reading, Go All In. In November, we will be celebrating books that hook you into reading through the outdoors – going outdoors, exploring and explorers, skills, and applying what you learn from the books in the great wide world. The competition will be a diary entry, in whatever format you choose (video entries will be considered!), about using a nonfiction book in real life. More details to be announced later this year – do keep an eye open for more information on our website and in UpdaTed!
