Sarah Stuffins, Children’s Book Award Coordinator says: “‘The Children’s Book Award is back and it’s always a pleasure to see what brilliant stories have been chosen. We have the hugely popular Michael Rosen on the shortlist this year, as well as previous winner Thomas Flintham. Children are a very demanding and exacting audience – books need to hook them into a story right away, and keep them turning the pages, right to the end! And it’s a testament to these wonderful books that they’ve all not just delighted their readers, but inspired them to vote. Congratulations to our wonderful shortlisted authors and illustrators, and many thanks to all the children who voted for this year’s wonderful shortlist.”
Thanks to the generosity of the publishers, all our FCBG groups have been sent copies to enable as many children to read and vote as possible. Additional copies can also be purchased at a discount from our partner supplier Heath Books via this link https://www.heathbooks.co.uk/federation-of-childrens-book-groups-childrens-book-award/
FCBG groups are voting within their group and non-members can vote online via the link at https://fcbg.org.uk/cba-2024/. The deadline for voting is Friday 18th May. The category winners and the author of the best children’s book published in 2024 will be announced at a ceremony in Birmingham on 8th June, attended by representatives from all our local groups.
As usual we are running a blog tour to discover more about each of the books – all details are available on the website at https://fcbg.org.uk/cba-2024/ or follow us on social media:
